Happy belated Halloween...

The one sign of Halloween in Paris... A lipstick covered pumpkin at my hotel bar.

And the oh so loved Mr. Wilde...

A perfect end to a fantastic trip. It's good to be home.

A sunny fall day in Paris

The photo above makes me happy. I'd like to take this sculpture home and put it smack in the middle of my front yard. The photos below are of FIAC in Paris.

Le jardin botanique de Marnay sur Seine

Around Camac.

The view from my window on a stormy day.

Sunset over the cottage.

Fall is here.

And here.

Behind Camac is the Seine. Beautiful.

Openening party at Camac

On Thursday there was an opening at Camac's gallery. Marnay sur Seine is in a rural area so people are bussed in from Paris for these events. The artists in residence were invited to open their studios to the public as well. My work from the first week here has involved getting to know new materials (gouache and watercolor on polypropylene).

And there may have been a dance party...

At Camac

I arrived at Camac last Thursday and have been settling in. The residency is located in a tiny village in the Champagne region about an hour train ride from Paris. Due to the remoteness the internet connection is slooooow so photos and postings may be a bit sparse.
The absolute quiet of this place is so luxurious. A huge contrast from the noises of Paris, or even those of home. Marnay sur Seine appears to be a sleepy town, with one bar, a creperie and not much else. The street lights turn off at 11pm, the roosters crow at dawn and the church bells ring every half hour. Heaven.

October in residence

I'm off to Paris this weekend for a few days and then will be heading to Camac for a month as an artist in residence. Posts have been sporadic due to the preparation for a month away but I'm hoping to be in touch more during the next month.

Humpty Dumpty

This mosaic was hanging out in the alleyway across from my studio the other day. It lived there for about 24 hours. Where did it come from? Where did it go? Thanks for making me smile Humpty.

SAM Gallery Installation

I headed over to the Seattle Art Museum Gallery today to take photos of the exhibition before it was too late. The show comes down on Friday. Turns out I was too late because four of the six pieces had been rented (it's a Sales/Rental Gallery). So, here's shots of the two remaining pieces for those of you who didn't get a chance to visit the show.

Willow ( In Progress)

When I was a child we lived in a house with a huge weeping willow in the back yard. I always felt so safe under its umbrella.

Herb and Dorothy

I finally made it to see Herb and Dorothy at the Northwest Film Forum. It made me feel so comforted to know that people like them exist in this world. If you get a chance to go see this - please do.
